Top 5 beaches in the east of Majorca

In our eagerness to visit the finest beaches in Mallorca, we often forget that there are also some very beautiful ones near Palma. And that we don't have to go to the other side of the island and drive miles and miles to find an equally paradisiacal beach, where, even in high season, we will always find an empty spot to spread out our towel.

In recent years, due to their constant posting on social media and travel blogs, many of our most beautiful beaches have become so popular and crowded that they've turned into no-go places.Sadly, these wonderful, unspoilt, secluded beaches with clear, turquoise waters are no longer the most desirable due to the massive influx of visitors.

Balneario Illetas has prepared a good alternative selection of the best coves and beaches in the southeast of the island. They may be less known and less crowded, but they're just as fantastic.Perfect for spending a day at the beach in a different environment, with the added advantage that they're all within easy reach of the city of Palma. Let's  discover them!

The best kept secrets of the Mediterranean

1. If you're looking for a beach club where to spend beautiful moments of relaxing and entertainment during the summer, with the best services at your disposal, don't hesitate: Balneario Illetas is just the right choice for you! No more than 10 km from Palma, in the municipality of Calvià, between Portals Nous and Cala Mayor, you will find our beach club in a spectacular landscape that includes two other beaches, the one in front of our facilities being the largest of them.

2. Continuing westwards, we reach Ses Pedretes or Caleta dels Frares. It's a rocky area that ends in a cove where it's common to see scuba divers. There's an area of pine trees, and a jetty belonging to the yacht club next to the beach, which makes it perfect for those arriving by boat.

3. Close to the residential area of Costa de la Calma and the village of Santa Ponsa we find our next beach: Cala Blanca. This is another of the incredible pebble beaches that can be enjoyed in this part of Mallorca. It's a gorgeous place, surrounded by the most wonderful nature where, as with the neighbouring Cala Cranc, we advise you to wear sandals to comfortably walk along its shores.

4. Continuing along the coast, approaching the elegant fishing village of Puerto de Andratx, we reach Cala Llamp, which surprises us with one of the most beautiful views of the whole Mallorcan coastline. This rocky cove is surrounded by the high cliffs of the Tramuntana mountain range and is ideal for snorkelling thanks to the absolute transparency of its waters.

5. The last one on our list is the furthest beach from Palma, which does not make it any less attractive than the others we've mentioned. We are referring to Cala Fonoll, next to the Port of Andratx. This cove can be reached by walking about 180 metres along the seashore starting from Cala Moragues. Although the access is not easy, when we reach the cove we are rewarded with beautiful crystal clear waters lapping the beach of this intimate bend in the sea. The small pebble beach, about 40 metres long, offers beautiful sunsets and even, if we are lucky, a glimpse of the island of Ibiza.
